Hi, actually, no, they’re not, and that’s why it’s so amazing!
I read something that explained this once (probably in one of Josh McDowell’s books). It mentioned that the walls didn’t fall inwards, as you’d expect when people from the outside are trying to get in, but outward (as if God put His hands inside the city and pushed the walls out). The place where science comes in here is with archaeology, where if you look at the bricks, this is exactly how they lied – pushed outward. That’s another thing – if they’d been pushed inward, then one could say that a huge wind came from everybody blowing the horns or something that knocked the walls down, or that the Biblical account was bogus because science showed that the walls were pushed inward, as by men trying to knock it down. So the fact that they fell outwards shows that something more awesome happened, which science can’t explain.
So no, scientifically-speaking, Jericho’s event cannot be explained. It only points to the awesome power of God.
