Hey Andy, do you believe in fate or destiny? Do you believe everything is meant to happen? Do you believe that certain things in life will happen no matter what they are, and just your ‘destiny’ like in the final destination movie. Or what do you believe?
Wow, I lot of questions, lol. I do believe everything happens for a reason, but I don’t believe that everything is meant to happen. Let me explain:
I believe that the Lord has a plan, and that what He plans, will happen. Sometimes, He lets us know what His Will and plans are, sometimes not. I also think that our decision of an action depends on the outcome of the event. For example: If you have a Bible, look up the book of Judges (start with chapter 20, verse 19): when the Israelites went to battle against their own brothers (the Benjaminites), they went up twice, and got knocked back both times. It wasn’t until they all prayed, fasted, and put their focus’ on the Lord that He gave them victory.
So defeat was imminent until they finally all humbly went before the Lord. Had they done so in the beginning, it’s possible that they wouldn’t have experienced the previous losses.
Freedom of Choice
I also believe in freedom of choice, which conflicts with destiny. You see, God already knows what we’re going to choose, before we choose something, and He may sometimes suggest a choice to us (the Holy Spirit that lives in us battles the flesh/sinful side of us all the time), but He won’t force us to choose what He hopes we’ll choose, for that’s our choice. Unfortunately, if we choose wrong, we’ll have to pay the consequences of our decisions, but that was our choice. God gave us that freedom.
What are my thoughts about Destiny in relation to the “Final Destination” movie?
As for the Final Destination movie, I believe that sometimes people are in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it may have been their choice to be at that place. But this world is also a cursed world, tainted by sin, so bad things happen. Jesus something similar about this when He asked about the people who died when the tower fell on them, or those who were massacred by Pilate. He said they weren’t more sinful than those who weren’t killed by them, but made the point of how important it is that we turn from our sins and accept Christ now before we die. but we have the freedom to make the choice we want on that.
