Do you believe that love is the most important thing in life?
Do you believe people are born good?
Do you think people can change?
Do you believe in a good?
I’m just asking in general what you believe and do you really believe it. Do you wake up in the morning and hope to live your beliefs, or do you just occasionally think of those thoughts?
Wow, lots of questions, lol. Well, in summary, when it comes to gods, I believe (only) in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and Earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord, who was:
conceived by the Holy Spirit
born of the Virgin Mary
suffered under Pontius Pilate
crucified
dead
buried
raised from the dead on the 3rd day
ascended to Heaven
is seated at the right hand of God the Father, Almighty.
From there, He shall (one day) come to judge the living and the dead.
No, I don’t. However, I do believe that Satan and his demons have deceived many into believing that they are other gods, and into believing that other gods exist, even to the point of leading people away from the One and True God. But no, I don’t believe that other gods exist, only the Lord God Almighty, whom I mentioned above and who is revealed in the Bible – The Word of God.
Do I believe that love is the most important thing in life?
No, I believe knowing God, loving God, living for God, and being loved by God are the most important things in life. Love is a big part of that, but knowing and loving God, living for God, and being loved by God are definitely the most important things in life.
Do I believe people are born good?
I believe people were ORIGINALLY createdgood, but that this was tainted when sin entered the picture. However, I also believe that the good that God originally created us to be is restored when we give our lives over to Him through Jesus Christ. I back this up with the existence of original sin. Original sin is something that we are all born with–thanks to our first, original parents, Adam and Eve. Because of the sin that they entered into the picture of all creation, no one is born good anymore (although Christ was born without original sin, and that’s another discussion for another time). So, thanks to original sin, nobody was born good, hence everybody also needs a savior. But God provided this savior to rescue us from our original sin, into which we were born, and the sins we continued to commit after being born – we just have to accept Him through faith (which many don’t).
Do I think people can change?
Yes, I do. I’m a good example of this belief (though I couldn’t have changed as I did without the help of guidance of Christ Jesus and indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit). However, I question whether or not somebody can change without God’s help. See, when we accept God through Christ Jesus, He sends the Holy Spirit into us, which changes us from the inside-out. Also, in baptism, we die to our old self and are born anew, from above (or from the Spirit). I question when people try to change without God’s help, for they’re still the same person (no spiritual transformation is made). They may have different desires and such, but they’re still the same person as before. And again, there’s also that need to be cleansed from our sin, which can only be done by God through Christ Jesus.
Do I believe in good?
I believe in God, and God is good, so yes, I believe in good.
Do I wake up in the morning and hope to live my beliefs?
Yes, every morning. In fact, I just prayed this this morning.
Understand, when Jesus is the main reason for the life you’re living (or the reason you’re alive), you live for Him, and not only as a choice of something to do – it’s not like one wakes up and says, “I’m going to try to love everybody today,” but that when you give your life over to Jesus, God’s Holy Spirit lives inside of you, and He changes you from the inside out – and not always all at once, most often it’s a gradual process. And as you read God’s Word, this Holy Spirit living inside of you communicates what’s being said in them, and puts a desire in you to follow through with them – to obey what God is telling us in them. So you learn, obey, are transformed, live out what you’ve learned and as you’ve become, teach others what you’ve learned out of excitement (you can’t contain it, really), are joined to the Body through baptism, gather with others in the Body of Christ, tithe, serve, etc.
