I have a friend/acquaintance in Sweden who runs a Christian outreach, where they set up a stand at all the large Satanic heavy metal festivals throughout Europe, pass out free Bibles and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people who would never step foot into a church, and many of whom most Christians might even fear approaching about anything, let alone the Gospel.
The Bible that his outreach passes out is called the Metal Bible. Basically, it’s a glossy, soft cover, handheld copy of the New Testament in the New Living Translation (NLT) format, translated into many of the world’s languages. But what makes it a “Metal Bible” is that surrounding the Scripture are testimonies from heavy metal musical artists who were once enemies of God, and are now saved. Artists such as Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Tommy Aldridge (Whitesnake), Dave Ellefson (Megadeth), Peter Baltes (Accept), Brian “Head” Welsh (Korn), and a few others, along with Christian metal artists, a woman who used to be a witch, and others. The purpose, as explained on the Vision Of God Records website, “to break down prejudices and misconceptions that many metalheads have about the Bible and be a tool to help people to realize that the Bible is not a boring book but an interesting and living and relevant book that has a lot to tell us today.”
So anyway, I’d like to share their end of 2018 victory report. It’ll give you something to praise God about:
“Throughout 2018, the Metal Bible has been distributed (interested have come and picked up copies for free) in Sweden, Germany, Denmark,The Netherlands, France, USA, and more!
- At Stockholm Metal Market in Sweden, 52 Metal Bibles went out, and though the satanic black metal band Dark Funeral was signing albums, most of our visitors were their fans!
- Metal Bible International was at the Motor exhibition Vallentuna Flyg & Motordag, where 25 Metal Bibles, Biker Bibles, and Motor Bibles were distributed;
- At Sweden Rock, 200 copies went out;
- Wacken Metal Fest: Something very cool that we experienced this year was that hundreds of people came to our team day after day to get intercession! Also, at the world’s biggest Metal Festival, “Wacken” in Germany, many came to get intercession, and 2,000 Metal Bibles were also distributed there;
- The Black Metal festival, Kaltenbach Open Air, calls themselves “The most evil festival in Austria”. Still, God was working there through the Metal Bible team, for 3 people came to know Jesus, and 50 Metal Bibles went out! Amen.
- Hell Fest: 900 copies of the Metal Bible were distributed at Hell Fest, France;
- 50 copies were given away at CopenHell, Denmark;
- 200 copies at Into The Grave in the Netherlands;
- 500 copies at Baroeg open Air in the Netherlands;
- 20 copies at Knoxville Tattoo Convention in the USA.
The reception to the Metal Bible has been good, or very good overall (although some don’t like it). Many misconceptions were broken, and we had many deep talks about Jesus — and several were saved, or came back to Jesus at the Metal Bible outreaches! Amen. All GLORY TO GOD for what He has done a these festivals! It is His work, not ours.
Now we just need to keep praying that those who have found Christ will keep the faith, and that those that received Metal Bibles read them, and that God’s Holy Spirit will touch them and help them into a living relationship with Jesus.”
I love the Metal Bible, and have given many away to metalheads over the years, myself.
