How Can I Go to Seminary?

Hey Andy, How can I go to seminary? I’ve received a deep calling a few times to become a Preaching Pastor. The only problem is that I’m not a member of any church. I left the Catholic Church seven years ago and have been attending services at a couple churches since then. But since I don’t belong to any particular church, how can I get enrolled in theological courses with no endorsement from church leaders?

Hi, when the Lord called me into ministry, I had a similar situation in terms of getting into a seminary. I grew up in a Presbyterian church, but had stopped going there a long time before accepting Christ. Then for several years after coming to accept Him fully, I still wasn’t regularly attending, nor a member, of any particular church. But I prayed about it. Jump forward a few years into being mentored, being called into ministry, and learning of my need to go to a seminary, what seminary is, why I need to go, etc., He soon led me to a church of a different denomination, which happened to be looking for me as I was looking for a church. They endorsed me for seminary, and I was soon a full-time M.Div student.

So pray about a seminary, and pray about how to get into it. Maybe also, your current church would be willing to endorse you with the promise of doing your internship with them (they may even help finance your education!).

Always remember: if the Lord is calling you to ministry, then He will provide everything needed to fulfill that calling. You need to get into seminary (highly advised), pray and He will make a way for you to go to Seminary.
